    Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, hosted Intuitive’s Thoracic Oncology Mobile Experience (TOME) for its first stop in New England earlier this month. A 56-foot long 18-wheeler, TOME contains revolutionary robotic surgical systems developed by Intuitive, and offers a unique way to bring awareness to referring physicians about the robotic surgery systems utilized at Saint Francis.     The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities has released recommendations to address the crisis of disconnected youth in Connecticut. Our Piece of the Pie strongly encourages the adoption and implementation of the 119K Commission’s Young People First plan to address Connecticut’s Statewide crisis. The Plan includes the following recommendations as strategic pillars to address the crisis: - Coordinate supports for youth at all levels of the system; - Create stronger conditions for youth success within and beyond school; - Increase capacity in the system, and; - Build and sustain coalitions The tactics and strategies laid out in the recommendations address policy, funding, education, workforce, and the social sector.     On Tuesday, October 22, The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame (CWHF) will host its 31st Annual Induction Ceremony at The Bushnell in Hartford to celebrate and honor some of Connecticut’s female pioneers and their incredible achievements. The CWHF will proudly induct three women for their exceptional work, outstanding vision, and tremendous achievements. The inductees are: Sara Bronin – architect, attorney, professor, and policymaker; Melissa Bernstein – entrepreneur, creative, author, and co-founder of Melissa & Doug toy company; and Barbara Summers – American writer, educator, and fashion model. In addition, CWHF will recognize three Spotlight Recipients. Spotlight Recipients are women whose contributions in their field are especially noteworthy to be distinguished and highlighted. This year, the Spotlight Recipients are: Crystal Emery – renowned producer, author and filmmaker; Shelley Quiala – Executive Director at the International Festival of Arts and Ideas; and Jesse Lazowski – fine jewelry designer and business entrepreneur.
