In the Metro interactive space at JABizTown, kids will become immersed in the power of public transportation to move a community forward. We couldn’t be happier to be part of this worthwhile and amazing new project.  

From networking to strategic seminars, learning and exploring the latest innovations, Bradley B., Jeff Nelson, Jennifer Hirsch and Chelsey Waterman had an incredible experience at the American Public Transportation Association’s TRANSform Conference in Anaheim, CA! It was a powerful opportunity to strengthen partnerships and chart a course for growth. We look forward to leveraging these insights to drive forward-thinking solutions and enhance public transportation in the QC.

It’s always exciting to see QC streets packed with runners from all over the country! #MetroQC was excited to team up with the Quad Cities Marathon to help runners get to the starting line and transport relay team members throughout the race. The marathon goes beyond 26.2 miles; It also brings the community together and supports local businesses! Hats off to everyone who helps make it possible!

Exciting news for the Quad Cities! MetroLINK has been awarded an $8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of the Federal Transit Administration’s initiative to modernize ferry services across the nation. Funds will be used for planning, design, and purchase of a battery-electric ferry along with supporting charging equipment and land side improvements.    “We are beyond thrilled to be 1 out of 18 projects selected to receive FTA Passenger Ferry funds, furthering our commitment to electrifying our community,” said Jennifer Hirsch, Manager of Administration for MetroLINK. “As a leader is clean technologies for over 20 years and with a fleet of battery electric buses already deployed, adding an electric ferry boat and charging infrastructure is a natural next step in our electrification journey. We thank the Biden-Harris Administration, our Congressional partners, and the Federal Transportation Administration for recognizing our efforts.”    With over 56 million ferry trips taken nationwide each year, this initiative goes beyond transportation—it’s a catalyst for economic growth, enhancing local tourism, and improving connectivity across the QC in a cleaner, more reliable way. We're excited to continue making waves along the Mississippi!

It was our pleasure to host the 2024 Illinois Public Transportation Association Fall Conference right here in the Quad Cities! We are beyond proud to announce that #MetroQC CEO Jeff Nelson has been awarded the Illinois Public Transportation Association William Volk Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is intended for individuals who have had an extraordinary impact on public transportation in Illinois over their career. Jeff became the youngest transit GM in the country in the early 1980s and has dedicated his career to enhancing public transit in our community, Springfield, and Washington. His visionary leadership has continually raised the standard of excellence at Metro and has earned us recognition in the Quad Cities and beyond. Congratulations, Jeff!

Say hello to Jim, a receptionist at The Arc of the Quad Cities Area and a daily #MetroQC rider. Living with cerebral palsy, Jim values our wheelchair-accessible buses that support his active lifestyle. “Metro drivers are well trained but also really compassionate about what they do,” he said. “They go above and beyond to help me,” Jim's experience is a testament to our commitment to inclusive, accessible public transportation for everyone in our community.
