"Elle Wilson, dating coach and founder of the NYC-based dating event series Met Through Friends, was planning dinner parties for her friends in 2022. Like many 20-something-year-olds, Wilson's friends often complained about the trials and tribulations of dating. 'Yes, things feel really challenging for people who are dating and people who are single and don't want to be, but I know they know lots of great people,' Wilson said. 'What if we got them all in a room together and saw what happened?' We know a lot of people are looking to meet without alcohol at the forefront (whether they're sober, sober-curious, or just wanting to drink less). While all of our events are sober-friendly, we were so excited to create an experience specifically for like-minded people searching for a substance-free space. Last night's +1 Sober-Curious Singles Mixer felt extra special: 50 singles gathered for a sold-out evening of booze-free connection. It felt like a really great house party, expect everyone was sober. Huge thanks to Sam Bail of Third Place Bar for helping us bring this to life, and to Fabrik for the coziest community space. We were also thrilled to raffle off 2 copies of Dry Humping: A lighthearted, cheeky, and judgment-free handbook from sober sexpert Tawny Lara on how to have better sex, better dates, and better partnerships--without relying on alcohol. It was an honor to partner with Farm To People to host a single-friends-of-friends dinner party in their stunning Kitchen & Bar. With a different seating arrangement for each course, attendees had the opportunity to connect with a variety of other great single friends-of-friends--no speed dating required. Sharing a meal is one of the most time-tested ways to connect with other people, and we were excited to give this ancient practice a modern dating twist. Farm To People's intentionally sourced, seasonally inspired, family-style menu provided the perfect platform for a thoughtful, connective dining experience.
