🔍 Unveiling Metabolic Insights: How Bacterial Metabolites Drive Oral Cancer Progression https://lnkd.in/g7-Q88wJ We are excited to share recent findings that uncover the metabolic role of Streptococcus mutans in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The study identified kynurenic acid (KYNA) as a key metabolite elevated in OSCC patients, discovered through metabolomic analyses. KYNA overproduction, driven by S. mutans colonization, reprograms the tumor microenvironment by expanding immunosuppressive neutrophils and causing CD8+ T cell exhaustion. This metabolic shift accelerates tumor progression and reduces the efficacy of immune therapies. We are proud to have provided support through our Widely Targeted Metabolomics and Tryptophan Targeted Metabolomics services, helping to uncover the link between bacterial metabolites and cancer progression. We are excited to share our involvement in a newly published study in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety that investigates the effects of cadmium exposure on the intestinal health of Hu sheep. The study reveals how cadmium disrupts the PPAR signaling pathway, reducing beneficial microorganisms (Ruminococcus sp.) and fatty acids like caprylic acid, ultimately leading to significant intestinal damage. Through multi-omics approaches including 16S Sequencing, Untargeted Metabolomics, and Transcriptomics, the researchers uncovered the mechanisms behind cadmium-induced inflammation and suggested new ways to mitigate its harmful effects on livestock health. MetwareBio is proud to have supported this important study with our multi-omics services (https://lnkd.in/gVr-MQnK).
