Last week, I had the opportunity to represent Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience at the Urban Transitions Mission (UTM) Global Innovation Summit 2024 in Brussels, Belgium for an exciting discussion on designing resource-efficient cities. Thank you Fulya (Aydın) Kandemir and Kamlesh Yagnik for many interesting insights from Turkey and India. The summit also focused on designing people-centered cities addressing mobility and access and designing smart and connected cities by leveraging digitalization and managing integration, interoperability, and data to mitigate vulnerabilities while enhancing urban systems. Other topics included data and digital solutions for evidence-based planning and policymaking, scaling up investment through public private collaborations, and keeping cities cool. Main takeaways - DATA DATA DATA and FINANCING! What a great opportunity to hear from and work with other UTM cities and many other impactful organizations on like challenges and successes.
