Protecting and maintaining natural areas that contain examples of Michigan’s endangered and threatened species.

About us

Established in 1952, this is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting Michigan's natural habitats and endangered plants and animals. The purpose of the Michigan Nature Association is to acquire, protect and maintain natural areas in Michigan that contain endangered and threatened flora, fauna, habitat for fish, wildlife and plants and to carry on a program of natural history study and conservation education as permitted under the Michigan Nonprofit Corporation Act. Our members have made it possible for us to preserve more than 170 nature sanctuaries in 58 counties throughout the state. We, at Michigan Nature Association, rely on the support of interns and volunteers to accomplish our mission.
