About us

In the early 1900’s, a few Michigan farmers and their families began raising turkeys. They found that the temperate climate and rich land of Allegan, Ottawa, Kent and Barry counties produced a bigger and healthier bird. As word of these great turkeys spread, more families started raising turkeys on their Michigan farms. Today, these family farms are still in operation. They have been handed down from generation to generation, and they are continuing to produce better turkeys. The proud growers of Michigan Turkey Producers are committed to quality and value from their farms to your table. Our raw processing plant is designed to meet sanitary and safety standards that far exceed most raw turkey facilities. In fact, the plant more closely resembles a further processor’s facility. For example, all of the walls and ceilings are covered in stainless steel so the entire plant can be easily and regularly sanitized. Michigan Turkey Producers has developed a controlled-atmosphere stunning system for use in our raw plant. Besides being more humane, this proprietary process significantly improves the quality of our meat by reducing blood spots and bruising. Michigan Turkey Producers offers a wide variety of both raw and cooked turkey products, from ready-to-cook whole breasts and turkey sausage to pre-sliced, oven-roasted and pan-roasted turkey.   • Michigan Turkey is proud to be the recipient Food and Agriculture Investment Program (FAIP) grant from the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development. The $75,000 grant will be used to reconfigure our cold storage capacity, allowing for expanded capacity to fulfill orders more efficiently.   • Summer is the season for barbecues and family reunions and our raw roasts are perfect on the smoker! Instructions: 1. Preheat smoker to 250 ̊F. 2. Remove product from both bags and dry off with a paper towel. If using a 2-3 piece item, separate the muscles for an even cook. Season all sides of turkey with your preferred rub (optional). 3. Place product on smoker in pan or directly on grate. Cook to an internal temperature of 165 ̊F (heating times may vary). 4.     Looking for a no-fuss meal that feeds a lot for a little? Hearty and delicious, Shredded Turkey Mac & Cheese is a great option when you have guests or need a quick dinner. Make it with premade macaroni and cheese and it’s even quicker! You can cook our Golden Legacy Oven Browned Turkey Thigh in the oven or on the smoker! Ingredients: Golden Legacy Oven Browned Turkey Thigh BBQ Rub and/or Seasoning Macaroni & Cheese Directions: 1. Preheat the oven and remove turkey thigh from bag. Place in a shallow pan, including natural product juices. 2. Lightly coat turkey in vegetable oil to help with the browning process. 3. Cook at 350˚F until internal temperature reaches a minimum of 135˚F (heating times may vary). 4. Remove from the oven and allow the meat to rest for 10 minutes. 5. Cut meat against the grain into 1 to 1 1/2 inch shreds. Mix in BBQ sauce. 6. Prepare macaroni and cheese according to directions. Once cooked, top macaroni with shredded BBQ turkey. If smoking, preheat the smoker to 250˚F. Remove the product bag and dry off with a paper towel. Season all sides of the turkey thigh with your preferred rub (optional). Cook to an internal temperature of 135˚F (heating times may vary).

    Last week, we hosted our Associate Appreciation BBQ Lunches at our locations across Grand Rapids. This included servings for our third-shift associates in the middle of the night - the nighttime photo captures service at 1 AM! Our thanks to Distinctive Catering who grilled on site for us. Our associates loved this meal! And our deep gratitude to each our hardworking associates. Thank you for all that you do!

    Researchers have developed a device that shields users from airborne viruses without the need for masks. This new tech is being trialed at Michigan Turkey, where we’re finding the Work Wearable Protect Device is solving many of our problems: “While paper masks were previously used at the facility, they made it difficult for workers to hear one another or read one another's lips on the noisy processing floor. The masks also caused workers' safety goggles to fog up, plus they couldn't maintain a facial seal throughout the day, and they had to be taken off when eating or drinking.
