🎉Michigan’s workforce system is #1 in the nation for adult credential attainment, reports the highest earnings in the country for individuals with disabilities, is #3 for helping adults get employed and is #4 in active registered apprenticeships. Good-paying jobs, in-demand careers and educational opportunities are on the rise nearly one year after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer released the first-ever Michigan Statewide Workforce Plan, a comprehensive roadmap with ambitious strategies to ensure all Michiganders have the skills, opportunities and support they need to make it in Michigan. The plan includes three core pillars: ✅ 1 - Help more Michiganders earn skills certificates or degrees ✅ 2 - Increase opportunities to grow the middle class ✅ 3 - Grow businesses to make Michigan a top 10 state for labor force participation To communicate the goals and strategies of the three pillars and build a collaborative network, the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity met with all 16 Michigan Works! Agencies and held roundtable discussions with stakeholders in every region of the state. Did you know the U.S. leads the world in ladder-related deaths? Each year, over 164,000 ladder injuries require emergency treatment, and more than 300 fatalities occur due to falls. During National Ladder Safety Month our Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration (MIOSHA) urges everyone to follow these 10 essential ladder safety tips to prevent falls: 1 - Choose the right ladder – Consider height, material, and surface conditions. 2 - Follow the 4-to-1 Rule – For every 4 feet of height, place the base 1 foot away. 3 - Never exceed the highest standing level – Stay below the recommended rung or step. 4 - Check weight limits – Factor in your weight, tools, and materials. 5 - Inspect before use – Look for damage, loose locks, or worn-out parts. 6 - Use proper tools – Carry items with a belt or hoist, not in your hands. 7 - Read OSHA safety labels – Follow workplace and home ladder guidelines. 8 - Ensure stability – Place the ladder on level ground and avoid hazards. 9 - Maintain three points of contact – Keep two hands and one foot (or vice versa) on the ladder at all times. 10 - Wear proper PPE – Face the ladder while climbing and avoid overreaching. Stay safe and spread the word! #LadderSafetyAwarenessMonth #MIOSHA Learn more: www.laddersafetymonth.com MIOSHA Resources: https://bit.ly/3DlonoA
