On the right is the 3D-printed version in titanium, followed by its appearance after anodizing. ✨ Anodizing enhances the surface by creating a durable oxide layer. Would you rather have two parts welded together, or one 3D printed component? This slider trolley for an INDEX barfeeder is currently manufactured by welding the round turned component to a sheet metal piece. It costs around 127 euro to produce this component, and the weld sometimes fails. Using laser powder bed fusion equipment from One Click Metal (a business in which Index is a majority investor), the company redesigned this component to be just one piece. The simple reduction of part count and process steps means that each slider trolley could be 3D printed for just 29 euro. Batching the parts 42 at a time, it would be possible to produce the needed annual quantity of 520 in 13 builds. I learned about this application during a booth visit at IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show to discuss how One Click Metal is making laser powder bed fusion safer, more affordable and operational within a small footprint with its platform. The two machines you see behind me (printer and sieving/depowdering station) are all that's needed to get started; powder is handled through a cannister system that keeps material separated from operators and helps minimize contamination. 🎥 Learn much more in the video we filmed during IMTS: https://bit.ly/4dRaFpx

🎓 Successful Installation at Auburn University, Alabama Last week marked another exciting university installation! Auburn University in Alabama is now equipped with our #metal3dprinting system, primarily focused on printing aluminum prototypes. 📚 They also have one of our Lab Modules, which is ideal for research purposes as it allows printing with a variety of powder materials. A big thanks to our reseller, Technical Training Aids, Inc., for their excellent work on the installation. We’re excited to see the first projects from Jordan Roberts and his team! Es gibt sie doch: Drachen im Labor erzeugt! 🐉🔧 In unserem neuesten Projekt haben wir einen vielgliedrigen #Drachen direkt aus dem 3D-Drucker gezaubert – komplett beweglich. 🖨️✨ Schicht für Schicht (20 µm) wurde er während 10 Stunden Druckzeit in unserem #MPrint One Click Metal additiv gefertigt. Nachdem der Drache von der Platte gesägt, manche Stützen entfernt und glänzend nachbearbeitet wurde, darf er jetzt gern bei uns bewundert und gestreichelt werden.
