If you don’t watch rugby, take a moment to watch two of the best teams in the world play (not always THE two best—calm down Ireland…). What stands out is one of the six key principles of rugby: PROVIDE SUPPORT. They score here because all of their players are running downfield to help their teammate under pressure. Something for us all in business to aspire to. The most important person in rugby is not the person with the ball. It is the NEXT person to get the ball. Is that you? Ruck it, Maul it, Scrum it 🐝: My Google account reminded me that 6 years today, I was knee deep in an opportunity given to me to create a periodised rugby training plan for a bunch of young talented players at WASPS RFC. Many valueable and transferable lessons were learnt coaching and playing this game which I was told was "basically like football". I quickly learnt that it's nothing like football. Over several months spent down at the club, Rugby became more than just a new game I was learning, it became some what of a metaphor for life. Faced with imposter syndrome and a steep learning curve, I embraced the challenge and was warmly welcomed by the then Wasp family which till today has left an lasting impression on me. Weekly I'd observe the youth team improve and grow closer together, players from diverse backgrounds working together for the win. I once read a quote about the sport which said, “Rugby is not just a game; it’s a journey of self-discovery and growth.” Thank you Waheed Aslam. #rugby #btsport #youth #dei #sports #team

Middlesex are pleased to announce the continuation of the Middlesex Financial Support Fund. The grant will support age grade players from disadvantaged backgrounds in paying club membership fees, purchasing club kit, boots, sports bras and gumshields. Waheed Aslam Director of Age Grade Rugby said “We have some of the countries most disadvantaged boroughs in Middlesex and we know the power of rugby and our core values. We want to ensure that our sport remains inclusive to all, so having these hardship grants available will ensure that we can provide rugby to those that may need financial support and continue our drive to bring people together to enjoy rugby”.
