Our high school Social Studies department visited Carnegie Natural History & Art Museum on Monday for professional development! These educators spent a valuable day looking into the past & contemplating the future while exploring the many on-site resources available. They dove deeper into the interactions humans have had with different biomes across the globe, enriched their understanding of people from different eras through artwork, and so much more. This was an invaluable visit for our staff and we cannot wait to see how they incorporate their enhanced knowledge into their lessons 🌎

PA Auditor General DeFoor visited McDowell High School this past Friday! He spoke to students about the work MTSD & our teachers have been doing around financial literacy and answered questions from students. Two of our students shared what they've learned so far from their Financial Literacy course, including opening an investment account and building credit before graduating high school. Pennsylvania is now the 25th state to guarantee financial literacy education to students by making it a graduation requirement, but McDowell had already approved it as a graduation requirement before the state. This was such an honor for our District!
