The MBA Foundation Online Auction has now begun and there are some great prizes to be won! Held in conjunction with the MBA Foundation Golf Outing taking place tomorrow, Wednesday, August 7th, the online auction is open for everyone to participate in and we hope you will bid early and often to support a great cause! Proceeds support the MBA Foundation and its chief project, the Milwaukee Justice Center. Prizes this year include a private pool party complete with games and a catered dinner, two great seats to see the Steve Miller Band, dinner for four with shuttle service at the Wisconsin Club, golf for four at West Bend Country Club, sports memorabilia and more! A huge loss indeed. Judge Skwierawski was president of the MBA in 2006-2007 and led the conceptualization of the Milwaukee Justice Center, leveraging the 150th anniversary of the MBA to generate funds to realize the vision of access to civil legal aid for all who needed it in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Justice Center turns 15 years old this year and is a living legacy of his tireless work.
The Milwaukee Bar Association Foundation is deeply saddened to have lost a leader in the law and the community. Hon. Michael J. Skwierawski was the best of us. He leaves a path for how we can be better attorneys, judges, and people. Just two days before his passing he was participating in an MBA Foundation Board meeting, discussing the importance of the Milwaukee Justice Center, a concept he was chief in creating, and strategies to ensure its continued sustainability as an access to justice stronghold in Milwaukee.
