MPS has launched a new paid teacher apprenticeship program in collaboration with North Branch Area Public Schools, Owatonna Public Schools, Minnesota State University, Mankato and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. Last week, we celebrated the kickoff of this innovative program and welcomed our first cohort of 25 soon-to-be licensed educators. MPS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Sayles-Adams had some inspiring words for the group, saying “You all are pioneers… I’m really excited for you.” The Forward Together program creates an accessible pathway into teaching, ensuring that new educators are well-prepared to make a positive impact from day one. Congratulations to Minneapolis Public Schools on earning the Breakfast Trailblazer Healthy Meals Incentive Award recognition from USDA and Action for Healthy Kids this July. Minneapolis Public Schools reduced added sugars by identifying menu items that were high in sugar and replacing them with lower sugar alternatives, including switching to reduced sugar cereals. They also added meat and meat alternatives to options such as turkey sausage incorporated into dishes including egg casserole, tacos, burritos and quesadillas. https://lnkd.in/gsNUCApS

RSM US LLP brought 475 employees, family and friends to Camden High School on August 8 for their annual Volunteer Day! This is the 9th year that RSM has partnered with MPS to enhance the beauty of our schools. Projects included planting and spreading 800 bags of mulch, painting dozens of murals and walls, stuffing school supplies in hundreds of new backpacks for our students and much more. Amazing! Thank you, RSM. 👏👏👏 #communitysupport #volunteersmakeadifference #WeAreMPS
