Three Reasons Why Monthly Giving is Great: 1. Monthly gifts provide stability for MHP – they provide support during our slower months and reliable resources we can plan around all year. 2. Recurring gifts help provide crucial services to communities around the country. 3. Monthly donations are automatic – you can set it and forget it, making it easier for you, the donor, to budget! Data-driven | Design-thinking | Asset-based | Equity oriented | Dot-connector & Bridge-builder | Working to increase capacity and impact in rural & BIPOC communities across the United States.
This week, my colleagues at Minnesota Housing Partnership (MHP) and I had a powerful experience engaging in meaningful conversations at the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI). We asked community members one key question: “What is your biggest community need?” The answers were varied, but one theme rang loud and clear: health and housing are at the forefront of community needs. Today, the U.S. is facing a housing crisis on a national scale. In many communities, affordable housing is scarce, with over 7 million households considered severely cost-burdened, paying more than 50% of their income on housing. For Native Nations, the challenge is even more profound. Historic underfunding and systemic barriers have resulted in a severe shortage of safe and affordable homes, with some communities lacking adequate infrastructure for housing development. At MHP, we’re committed to supporting rural communities by offering *free capacity-building support* to help address these pressing needs by empowering communities with sustainable solutions. I am proud to work alongside a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about creating lasting, positive change in these communities. 🏡What is your community’s biggest need?

Project Highlight: Starting spring of 2024, MHP began providing community development assistance to Buckeye Ridge Habitat for Humanity in Marion, Ohio. Serving four rural counties near the Appalachian region, Buckeye develops and rehabilitates homes for families in communities facing extreme poverty. Together, MHP and Buckeye are identifying communities for affordable housing, creating a multi-year development plan, and securing funding to make it happen. MHP has provided the tools to enhance project planning and continues to support their efforts to expand funding and homeownership education. Every community we work with is a testament to the power and perseverance of collaboration. These accomplishments show how far we can go with the right support.
