MNC Inspiring Success

The DEIB team invited MNC Staff to the Mission Bowling Club for an evening of laughing, socializing and fun! Everyone showed off their matching bowling shoes and had a good time finding their rhythm and cheering at strikes, gutter balls and everything in between! DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) actively supports the creation and implementation of policies and procedures that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at MNC.

Simon Xiao gives a demo class at our MNC Liliana Rossi Hall on the ancient martial art and exercise Tai Chi. MNC is dedicated to incorporating various cultural activities into our programming to celebrate and engage all of our participants. 🇲🇽🇺🇸 What an exciting week we had at the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco! 🌉📚 We were honored to be part of the 7th Binational Education Week, spreading the word about Mission Graduates' programs and resources for our community. From info fairs to workshops, we spent our time connecting with families and sharing opportunities for newcomer students. Throughout the week, we hosted resource tables, presented on educational opportunities, and collaborated with partners like Motivate Inspiranos for a Tech workshop at Moscone Elementary. It was inspiring to see the engagement and enthusiasm from our community! We also had the privilege of attending the Welcome and Farewell reception for Consulate leadership, hosted by MNC Inspiring Success. We extended a warm welcome to General Ana Luisa Vallejo Barba and bid Vicente Sanchez a heartfelt farewell. This week was truly a celebration of education, community, and new beginnings. Crazy to think that the amazing summer memories that I created here in San Francisco are over! I am thrilled to announce the successful completion of the MNC Climate Corps pilot which has been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally. This program was designed to foster environmental stewardship and community engagement, and I’m proud to have been a part of it as an Environmental Stewardship Associate. 🌳 Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to work alongside an amazing group of 12 stewards at beautiful locations such as Corona Heights Park, The Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz Island, Slide Ranch, Hawk Hill, Mori Point, Stern Grove, and Alemany Farms! We were involved in a variety of projects, including planting trees, park and beach clean-ups, and even beekeeping! 🐝 I am incredibly grateful for this experience and for the chance to work with such a dedicated team committed to making a positive impact on our environment. Happy Latina Day!

Our MNC Climate Corps pilot had an amazing 6-week run, capped off with a special Graduation Ceremony honoring 12 hardworking Stewards with certificates, MNC hoodies, gift cards, and a booklet of their achievements! 🌱 Over the summer, they made a huge impact at sites like Corona Heights Park, The Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz Island, and more—planting trees, cleaning beaches, and even beekeeping—under the leadership of Supervisor Martin Portillo and Assistant Supervisor Drew Muhoberac. 🌟   Thank you to Isabel St.Germain, Hazel Quintanilla, Michelle N., Kennidey Green, Martin Portillo, Drew Muhoberac, and all the MNC Climate Corps Stewards: Demaurier Wallace, Naarai Evans, Hali Ayala Mejia, Enrique Saldivar, Eduardo Rivas, Lexie Ramos, Kahlo Chen-Cerenio, Ximena Hernandez, Joseph Barba, Jaden Lee, Abi Desta, and Jake Thompson for making this pilot a success! We’re excited to connect with partners to ensure this program continues making a difference for our environment and community.

The summer launch of the MNC Climate Corps is here! From July 2nd to August 8th twelve amazing young adults will be engaging in activities such as cleaning up park trails, planting trees, and restoring habitats on Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Park and Marin with the goal of educating and inspiring the youth in areas like clean energy and environmental protection. We welcome Martin Portillo as Crew Leader and Drew Muhoberac as Assistant Crew Leader!

We were honored to have Oscar Peñaranda speak at MNC's Distinguished Speaker Series. Originally from Barugo, Leyte in the Philippines, Oscar co-taught San Francisco State's first Filipino studies classes in the late 60s-early 70s and helped establish the nation’s first school of ethnic studies. As an award-winning educator, writer, activist, and former Alaskan cannery worker, Oscar shared his experiences, stories, and love of history. https://lnkd.in/dH4V_VRe

On June 7th we held our second annual MNC Experience Employee Day Event. From the very first activity to the end of day the energy was high and MNC was truly one team. We came together to celebrate accomplishments, become inspired, and discover our own superpowers, Empathy and Kindness, and how it makes us stronger individuals and an even stronger organization.
