About us
We are a multi-service human service organization with a long history of serving Minnesota. Our service areas are: Chemical & Behavioral Health – A withdrawal management center for people experiencing intoxication and withdrawal and three transitional housing facilities for people in recovery. Residents in transitional housing live here weeks, months or years. Domestic Violence – emergency shelter for women and their children and advocacy support for community residents to navigate the legal system as they seek safety and justice. Women stay an average of 17 days at the shelter. No one is ever asked to pay to stay at the shelter or receive advocacy services.

Yesterday, we got a heartwarming call from DeShaun, the General Manager of New Hope Hy-Vee, who wanted to drop off some donations. Just a few hours later, he arrived with a van full of baby essentials: diapers, baby wipes, cute humidifiers, and diaper waste containers—all headed to the families at Home Free Shelter and Bickham Court. DeShaun chose to give to us because, as a child, his family received support from Home Free Shelter, and he never forgot the help they received. We’re honored to be the first organization he thought of and incredibly grateful for his generosity. Thank you, DeShaun, for giving back in such a meaningful way! #CommunitySupport #FullCircle #MissionsIncPrograms

Every year during Domestic Violence Awareness Month @violencefreemn shares the Homicide Report: Relationship Abuse in Minnesota. The 2023 report provides an overview of Minnesota’s 40 known victims of intimate partner- and domestic violence-related homicide alongside policy recommendations to end relationship abuse. You can view the report linked on our website: www.missionsinc.org/dvam or directly at www.vfmn.org #DVAM24

In addition to the main display, several satellite displays were installed across the metro, including one at the Plymouth Library which features a domestic violence-focused reading list, highlighting victim and survivor stories. We hosted our annual Walk with an Advocate last Thursday and had a great turnout! We had 32 attendees, including elected officials and representatives from local city councils to the U.S. Congress. The event celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Home Free Community Program and reflected on what success looks like for the clients we serve. Attendees also had the meaningful opportunity to customize and plant a white flag in honor of someone affected by domestic violence. #WalkWithAnAdvocate #40YearsOfImpact #EndDomesticViolence #DVAM24
