Visit the CIECA website to learn more about the Vehicle Damage and Imaging (VDI) Committee and how you can get involved.
CIECA's Vehicle Damage and Imaging (VDI) Committee was reactivated earlier this year to look at the ‘estimate’ to determine if changes are needed to accommodate today’s collision repair environment, determine if there is information from the past that is no longer necessary or relevant, and ensure that CIECA API Standards (CAPIS) for the estimate will meet future needs. The committee is chaired by Phil Martinez, principal technical consultant at Mitchell International, an Enlyte Company. “As CIECA’s Architecture Committee defines the structure and operation of the new CAPIS, we want to ensure we meet the industry’s needs as a result of the changes taking place with electric vehicles (EVs), Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), OEM repair procedures and other elements of vehicle repair,” said Paul Barry, CIECA's executive director. Paulette Reed, CIECA’s technical project manager, said the committee meets bimonthly to develop Assignment and Estimate messages. According to a recent J.D. Power study, policyholder satisfaction with the auto insurance claims process increased last year despite longer than average repair cycle times. One reason for the positive year-over-year change was the industry’s growing reliance on digital interactions. "By leveraging Mitchell’s innovative technology and our best-in-class consumer experience solutions, collision repairers and auto insurers can stay digitally connected to policyholders throughout the claim and repair," said Curtis Nixon, President and CEO of UpdatePromise. "This will help them improve customer satisfaction, build brand loyalty and deliver an exceptional experience."
