MVAA is responsible for administration and operation of the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund, Michigan’s state veterans homes, constituent service or referral and the state's grant to chartered veterans service organizations and the Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors. MVAA is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Michigan Veteran Homelessness Prevention Grant. The MVAA will distribute grants of not more than $250,000 each to Michigan-based nonprofits that assist service members, veterans and their families who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness. The VA Detroit is hosting a Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk on Friday, September 13th, with opening remarks starting at 11:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear teal or purple for suicide prevention, awareness and recovery. Food, live music, crafts and resource tables will follow.
