I loved participating in Mixte Communications' workshop for social justice communicators. It gave us the breathing room, mentorship, and resources to reach the next level of strategic planning -- which is so helpful in a field where you're often knee-deep in day-to-day work. Huge thanks to Mia Bolton + Helen Buse for facilitating this opportunity! I *highly* recommend these workshops to anyone who has the chance to attend.

House reps recently introduced a bill to restore U.S. funding for UNRWA, the UN’s top Gaza aid agency. As we mark one full year of genocide in Palestine, this is cause for hope. 🇵🇸 The U.S. government cannot keep withholding millions of dollars for medical care, food and water for thousands of families displaced by the war on Gaza. Advocate with UNRWA USA to restore life-saving funding.
You can make a huge impact for Palestine refugees in just one minute! Lein, our Advocacy Manager, explains how. The US government has paused funding to UNRWA until March 2025, at a time when Palestine refugees from Gaza to Lebanon need it the most. Historically, the US has been the leading donor to UNRWA, the UN Agency that is providing over 60% of aid in Gaza, including shelter, food assistance, and mental health programs. UNRWA remains essential for delivering humanitarian aid to Palestine refugees not just in Gaza, but across the Middle East. 📢 We need you to contact your reps to urge them to support the UNRWA Funding Emergency Restoration Act NOW. Misinformation plays a direct role in blocking humanitarian assistance to Gaza. A recent report from Wired revealed that the Israeli government is buying Google ads to discredit and defund UNRWA, the UN’s top Gaza aid agency. It helps to convince U.S. audiences that the oppression of Palestinians is “too complicated.” It encourages public inaction and silence that tacitly permits the genocide to continue. So let’s break the silence. Learn about the deadly impact of misinformation and what you can do about it. https://shorturl.at/VMUtU

We are always grateful for moments like this! Thank you, Groundswell, for the necessary and nourishing learning experience.
Learning a lot today at The Groundswell Summit. Mainly, how to bring joy and laughter to an event such as this. Their team is talking about issues like restorative justice, biases, conflict, and sometimes these heavy topics make the room heavy. Not today and not here. They are challenging the way I show up to talk about these things and pushing me to give myself permission to smile and even laugh. And while laughter is happening, we’re also talking solutions and strategies. We’re doing it and it’s thanks to the great team at Groundswell. Bravo! 🙌
