Thank you to everyone who joined Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin, City of Milwaukee Health Department Commissioner Mike Totoraitis, PhD, and our community during the annual Sickle Cell Summit. The event featured a panel discussion with Sickle Cell Warriors of Wisconsin (SCWWI) and other stakeholders, focusing on the ongoing support needed for families affected by Sickle Cell Disease. Discussions on barriers to care and the stigma patients and families face are essential for raising awareness and driving change. As Commissioner Totoraitis stated, "Our goal is to bring together experts, advocates, and community members to discuss the challenges faced by those living with sickle cell disease. By collaborating with local organizations, we hope to strengthen our community’s approach to this public health crisis." Special thanks to all who made this event possible!
