As the sixth generation to serve in a Sturdivant family business and third generation to lead MMI Hospitality Group, I can confidently state that I'm all in. One has to be fully committed in order to do hospitality well. My grandfather and his grad school roommate, Earle Jones, made a leap of faith in purchasing The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort when I was three. I have grown up with St. Simons Island being a special place for my extended family. Through their commitment to this Historic Hotels of America | Historic Hotels Worldwide resort, generations of guests have also come to love and appreciate its unique charm. As I stated in a recent press release, "Since 1980, The King and Prince and MMI’s legacies have been tightly interwoven, our ideals strategically aligned to curate a cherished vacation destination known for its authentic Southern hospitality, one that will endure for generations." Fortunately, my friends Dave Gaston and Matt Brendle at Breakwater introduced me to the South Street Partners team in the right way and at the right time while Catherine Morgen's team at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP represented our interests well. The Jones and Sturdivant families are excited to collaborate with these guys in stewarding the 90th anniversary of this property next year and for the foreseeable future as both partners and the resort's manager. Our MMI team members and neighbors in the Golden Isles are dear to us. The best is yet to come!
