MMSD Superintendent Joe Gothard, Ed.D. is featured in a September cover story by Umoja Magazine. The article, "Being Led by a Proven Winner" is written by the incomparable Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings. Excerpt: Dr. Gothard's "message to parents and families is that 'We are one community and one school district. I respect your children and feel a great deal of responsibility to ensure they get the best education possible at MMSD!' His message to MMSD staff is to focus on student achievement but not jump to ‘results’ without on focusing on developing people. He also wants to be consistent and focus on the culture of MMSD."

They had an opportunity to connect with staff and students, seeing firsthand the teaching and learning that happens in our schools! Deputy Marten's visit was part of the week-long, multi-state back to school annual bus tour, which kicked off yesterday in Green Bay. Joe Gothard, Ed.D.

After four years of dedication and hard work, the long-awaited transformation of our four comprehensive high schools is complete! We celebrated last Friday with ribbon cutting ceremonies at La Follette, East, West and Memorial high schools. A huge thank you to the entire Madison community. Your support of the 2020 facilities referendum was vital in making this vision a reality. These updates go beyond just new facilities—they’re about creating spaces where students and staff can truly be their best selves, explore their passions and reach their highest aspirations. Together, we’re shaping a bright future for our students and our community. Here’s to many more years of growth, learning, and success! Thank you to Findorff, Jim Yehle, EUA, Huffman Keel Partners, Madison Public Schools Foundation and countless others!
