  • The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) just announced a significant investment in marine energy with the launch of the "Oceans of Opportunity" initiative, a $112.5 million funding opportunity. This significant investment aims to accelerate the development and deployment of wave energy converters (WECs) by focusing on three critical marine energy pathways: distributed energy applications, community energy solutions, and utility-scale energy generation. By targeting these areas, the DOE seeks to advance technologies that can harness the power of ocean waves to generate clean, renewable energy and support various sectors and communities across the country. Concept papers are due on 10/25/2024 at 5:00pm ET
