When we build an economy that everyone can participate in, we’re building a better future for the entire nation. This principle has been the foundation of everything we do at MoCaFi—from disbursing emergency funds to struggling families to empowering unbanked communities with no-fee, low-cost bank accounts. Our programs help lift people out of poverty, yes, but they also allow them to engage more actively with their communities—and their financial futures. By expanding access to credit or instituting basic income payments, we’re encouraging more Americans to frequent local businesses, hire neighborhood services, and even take out a loan to plant lasting roots. In short, uplifting the vulnerable uplifts us all. MoCaFi’s latest initiative, a pilot program providing New York City asylum seekers with prepaid debit cards to purchase fresh food, is an example of this principle in action. The program will save the city millions, give families choice over the food they eat, and put dollars into the city’s local economy. Businesses like bodegas and grocery stores are always searching for new customers and we know they’ll see this program as an exciting opportunity to grow their business. Our pilot program for asylum seekers is just one use case. With our innovative mobile banking technology, MoCaFi is providing an effective on-ramp into financial services for unbanked and underbanked communities across the country.
