About us
Model Cities is a St. Paul, Minnesota based organization whose mission is to promote the physical, mental, spiritual, social, and economic wellbeing of individuals, families and communities who are under- served. Model Cities serves over 1200 families each year most of which live in Ramsey County; smaller percentages are residents of Hennepin and Washington Counties. More than half of the clients (69 percent) live in eight St. Paul neighborhoods: Lexington-Hamline, Snelling-Hamline, Thomas-Dale, Summit-University, Midway, East Side, Payne-Phalen, and North End. Most of these neighborhoods are located in whole (or in part) in St. Paul's Enterprise Community. Initially, Model Cities' focus was on primary health care. Over the years, services have expanded and now include mental health, chemical health, social services, crisis intervention, and supportive housing. Additionally, Model Cities has been an active community developer for almost 20 years, primarily in real estate development. Included in its development portfolio are new construction and rehabilitation of commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. Each of these projects was developed to increase accessibility to human services and economic development among low-income and poverty level populations. We have recently participated in advocating for a couple new bills: HOMECO and SPPN (St. Paul Promise Neighborhood). To find out more information about all our services, please visit: www.modelcities.org.
