Clean hydrogen on-site. No new pipelines. No new storage. No delivery trucks. Near zero and negative CO2.
About us
Modern Hydrogen's distributed hydrogen production systems enable clean heat and fuel, today. No waiting on hydrogen pipelines, or delivery trucks. No large, high-pressure storage necessary. No more emissions. Electricity can be used in many simple heating and power applications, but many high-grade heating applications remain out of reach. Additionally, the total amount of energy required for peak heating in the U.S. is more than double the capacity of our national electrical grid. This means that most heating in the U.S. cannot be electrified today and will not be fully electrified and powered by a clean grid for decades to come. So, what can be done to solve the massive problem of today’s emissions? At Modern Hydrogen, we understand the importance of energy-dense fuels and the high value of effectively storing and transporting them. When we focused our expertise in high-temperature physics, thermomechanical design, and applied chemistry on the problem, Modern Hydrogen™ was the result. We operate at the leading edge of new technologies that effectively decarbonize natural gas at the point of use for commercial and industrial operations, fuel cells, and power generation. Modern Hydrogen™ technology showcases many of the newest innovations in the transportation and production of clean hydrogen and high value solid carbon. Contact us today to learn more.

Decarbonized Natural Gas — available today thanks to our innovative natural gas pyrolysis project in Portland. This technology, proven with a partnership between Modern Hydrogen & NW Natural, allows for: ✅ Lower carbon emissions without changing appliances or infrastructure ✅ Decarbonized natural gas delivered through existing pipelines ✅ Support of real-world clean energy solutions that scale efficiently This is a scalable model for reducing emissions while keeping energy reliable and affordable. Join us tomorrow, Feb 20, for the Northwest Gas Association webinar to learn how this works and what it means for energy consumers. 📅 Feb 20, 2025 | 12:00 PM PST | Virtual Hosted by Roxana Bekemohammadi of United States Hydrogen Alliance Featuring Mothusi Pahl of Modern Hydrogen, Chris Kroeker of NW Natural, and Brad Archuleta of UA Local 290 🔗 Register now: https://lnkd.in/gvR3WpBH #DecarbonizedNaturalGas #EnergyTransition #GasUtilities #CleanEnergy #Hydrogen #Utilities #NaturalGas #Infrastructure
Please join the Northwest Gas Association for our monthly webinar, featuring the innovative methane pyrolysis technology pioneered by Modern Hydrogen and currently in use at NW Natural’s Central Portland facility. This technology produces clean hydrogen and captures solid carbon from geologic and biogenic methane, which can then be used in applications such as paving and road repair projects. The three-year pilot project is the latest initiative by a Pacific Northwest natural gas utility to explore potential hydrogen production and applications. By leveraging the existing natural gas infrastructure and deploying this advanced technology with the expertise of our current workforce, the project aims to demonstrate how gas utilities can reduce emissions on behalf of their customers, provide practical and actionable solutions to meet the growing demand for sustainable energy, and inclusively accelerate the energy transition. This transformative effort helps address current environmental challenges and sets the stage for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
