Clean hydrogen on-site. No new pipelines. No new storage. No delivery trucks. Near zero and negative CO2.
About us
Modern Hydrogen's distributed hydrogen production systems enable clean heat and fuel, today. No waiting on hydrogen pipelines, or delivery trucks. No large, high-pressure storage necessary. No more emissions. Electricity can be used in many simple heating and power applications, but many high-grade heating applications remain out of reach. Additionally, the total amount of energy required for peak heating in the U.S. is more than double the capacity of our national electrical grid. This means that most heating in the U.S. cannot be electrified today and will not be fully electrified and powered by a clean grid for decades to come. So, what can be done to solve the massive problem of today’s emissions? At Modern Hydrogen, we understand the importance of energy-dense fuels and the high value of effectively storing and transporting them. When we focused our expertise in high-temperature physics, thermomechanical design, and applied chemistry on the problem, Modern Hydrogen™ was the result. We operate at the leading edge of new technologies that effectively decarbonize natural gas at the point of use for commercial and industrial operations, fuel cells, and power generation. Modern Hydrogen™ technology showcases many of the newest innovations in the transportation and production of clean hydrogen and high value solid carbon. Contact us today to learn more.

Modern Hydrogen welcomed the AWB Manufacturing Week Tour and Woodinville Chamber of Commerce to our HQ! The Association of Washington Business (AWB) Manufacturing Week Bus Tour visited our facility as a stop on the tour, where we showcased our groundbreaking work in clean hydrogen production and decarbonization technologies. It was an inspiring day spent with local leaders, including Mayor Mike Millman, AWB staff, and other community members, as we demonstrated how our modular systems remove carbon directly from natural gas, producing clean hydrogen for industries that need low-carbon heat, steam, and even fuel for fleets—all without requiring new infrastructure. A special highlight? We demonstrated how we’re utilizing our Modern Carbon byproduct in asphalt, creating stronger, more sustainable roads while trapping carbon! Participants got to mix their own Modern Asphalt. We’re proud to be part of the future of #Washington manufacturing and to contribute to a cleaner energy landscape. Learn more about how Modern Hydrogen is driving innovation in hydrogen production and decarbonization at https://lnkd.in/gW8EvkPw Thank you, AWB, for the opportunity to be part of this initiative! #CleanEnergy #ManufacturingWeek #Decarbonization #HydrogenInnovation #Sustainability #Hydrogen 📸: Brian Mittge/AWB

We applaud efforts to advance the hydrogen economy. However… …while many focus their attention on processes that include capturing and storing carbon dioxide, Modern Hydrogen takes a different approach—removing carbon before it becomes carbon dioxide. By directly separating carbon from methane at the molecular level through methane pyrolysis, we create clean hydrogen without the need for extensive carbon dioxide management. This not only simplifies the production process but also positions hydrogen as an affordable, low-carbon fuel for critical sectors such as power generation, transportation, and industrial heat. Modern Carbon is then a permenant value-add product in asphalt materials, unlikely carbon dioxide, which needs storage and long term support. Overall, hydrogen will undoubtedly play a key role in achieving net-zero emissions, especially for hard-to-abate sectors, and it’s encouraging to see diverse approaches being supported across the industry. For example, here’s a message on a recently announced $15 million DOE funding opportunity for developing technologies that convert waste materials into syngas for hydrogen production. These technologies have the potential to align with the broader vision of reducing emissions and driving industrial decarbonization. As rising tides lift all boats, we’re excited to see how collective innovation can move us closer to a more sustainable, energy-secure future. More details on this particular H2 opportunity are in the DOE $15 Million Funding Opportunity post below. #HydrogenEconomy #CleanEnergy #IndustrialDecarbonization #NetZero2050 Brad Crabtree Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management | U.S. Department of Energy
🗣️ #ICYMI 📢 ⭐ ⭐ DOE Announces $15 Million to Develop Innovative Systems for Clean Hydrogen Production ⭐ ⭐ 📋 #FECM is making $15 million available for research and development projects that convert feedstocks, such as coal, biomass, petcoke, household waste, industrial wastes, and waste plastics—coupled with the capture and storage of carbon dioxide emissions—into syngas to enable the low-cost production of clean #hydrogen. 🔋 These efforts will help achieve the Biden-Harris Administration's goals of a net-zero emissions economy by 2050.
