About us
Molecular Rebar Design, LLC (MRD), based in Austin, Texas, was established to develop and commercialize a breakthrough form of modified carbon nanotubes, called Molecular Rebar®. These are the world’s first CNT’s that are disentangled from the usual clumping and individualized through a patent-pending process which enables significantly enhanced performance for a myriad of high-value materials. Since 2009, MRD has focused on integrating our breakthrough technology into strategic markets while continuing to innovate and develop new and improved technologies. Whether it is enabling significant strength and longevity in rubber and plastic products, redefining performance limitations in both lead and lithium batteries, or working with global industry leading companies to explore new fields of application, Molecular Rebar® untangles potential and enables performance.

Work completed by MRD under the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SBIR program, contract no. 68HERC24C0030, was recently published in Rubber World Magazine. MRD demonstrated that the use of MR with additional loadings of TMQ and protective waxes and no 6PPD perform the same, or better, than typical tire sidewall compounds with 6PPD & carbon black reinforcement. The technical article summarizing results of the project in detail- "Replacement of 6PPD through Improved Ozonation-related Crack Resistance with MOLECULAR REBAR®"- can be read at the link below with a free membership. Authored by Kurt Swogger, Clive Bosnyak, & August Krupp. #nanotechnology #innovation
