  • Breaking barriers, but not breaking through: Women now represent 29% of C-suite positions as of 2024, up from just 17% in 2015. While progress is being made, we're still far from true gender parity in corporate leadership. At this pace, we're looking at 22 years before white women reach equal representation, and 48 years for women of color. Together, we can work toward meaningful change! #WomenInLeadership

  • 💫 January is National Mentoring Month, and we at Momentum are excited to celebrate the transformative power of mentorship through our Mentor Matching Program. Our approach offers women unique pathways to professional growth, connecting individuals through senior mentorship, peer-to-peer mentoring, and community mentor matching. ➡️ Over the years Momentum has facilitated more than a thousand mentoring relationships. We provide free mentorship opportunities, carefully matching participants to support their personal and professional development. Momentum’s mentor matching service is free and open to any woman in the community who wishes to find a mentor or be a mentor. Momentum partners with local universities, young professional groups, and nonprofits focused on women & girls to match our graduates with mentees. ✨ This National Mentoring Month, we invite women to explore our mentor matching opportunities and take the next step in their professional journey. • ➡️ "Whatever You Do, Keep Moving Forward" In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s enduring vision, community leaders gathered at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) on January 20, 2025, to engage in a transformative dialogue about justice, progress, and collective action. Panelists: •Carlos Enrique Alemán, Ph.D., CEO of !HICA! •April Benetollo, CEO of Momentum •Houston L. Brown, Civil Division Judge (Retired) •Chadra Pittman, Executive Director of the The Sankofa Projects •Moderated by Kamil Goodman-Lumzy, Rep Terri Sewell Intern and Alabama State University Student 💫 At Momentum, we believe in the power of women lifting each other up and creating pathways to leadership and equality. As we reflect on the ongoing journey toward equal rights, we are inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who reminded us that the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice—but only when we actively work to bend it. Our mission goes beyond individual achievement; it's about collective progress and ensuring that every woman has the chance to reach her full potential. Today, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., we stand united. Many thanks to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute for bringing us together on this day. Together, we rise. Together, we lead. Together, we create the future we want to see. 🙌
