One of the questions you should ask in your legacy-giving conversations is, "What values do you want to pass on to your loved ones?" That’s a question we should all consider, especially now. No doubt you’re familiar with Giving Tuesday, coming up in December. We’d like to propose a new “holiday” of sorts: Forgiving Tuesday. Consider it an invitation to see each other as people made in God’s image, not issues to be argued over. Doing so allows us to take the values we hold dear and put them into action right now. Here are some ideas: · Write a note of kindness and appreciation. · Grab a cup of coffee with a friend who sees an issue differently than you do and ask them to discuss it. Focus on your common ground. · Share a fun experience together—a movie, a concert, a sporting event. Fostering connection is key to moving past our differences. We’ll be talking about this throughout November on LinkedIn. We’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas as we think through the legacy we’re leaving and move toward each other in love and, yes, forgiveness. We’ve also created a free download, 3 Ways to Practice Gratitude and Pursue Peace, for you to use this Thanksgiving season. It’s a great way to encourage your donors. DM us for the free download!

Vice President for Client Services at Money for Ministry--Accelerating ministry and non-profit growth potential through estate gifts
Donor Fatigue is a myth! Your donors might be fatigued if you continue to send the same transactional appeal over and over again. But they will never tire of hearing from you when you engage them with content that matters to them. Woodrow Rosenbaum, chief data officer for GivingTuesday, says donors want to “maintain a dialogue that isn’t always just asking for money,” When they get that, they are engaged longer. -Ask for their input -Invite them to help you solve problems -Share stories of impact -Tell your mission and story over and over -Thank them for their partnership -My friend Steven Screen at The Better Fundraising Company would say Ask Thank, Report, Repeat 😄 The goal is to invest in creating a deep loyal partnership over decades through ongoing dialogue and engagement Donor fatigue is a myth! Agree? Disagree? What are your thoughts? I'd love hear... #recurringdonors #legacygiving #donorengagement #donorfatigue

"Our non-profit is kicking off a capital campaign next year. Therefore we don't have any capacity left to grow our planned giving pipeline." I hear this statement way too often! It's a huge mistake...a big missed opportunity. Your capital campaign is founded upon a vision for the future. Your capital campaign is about building for coming generations. There is no better time to be talking to your donors about a gift in their will than in the context of a capital campaign? Want to learn more? I'll be joined by Brad Layland and Ame Eldredge of The FOCUS Group for our Money for Ministry webinar "The 7 Keys to a Successful Capital Campaign". I just finished a planning session for this webinar with The FOCUS Group team and I'm super excited for the conversation. And we will definitely be talking about how to make planned giving a part of your campaign. 😄 October 31 at 1pm eastern. If you’re at a small nonprofit, and hurricane Helene or hurricane Milton has caused you to need extra/emergency funds, we’d like to help; we will write an emergency fundraising email for you. Our hearts have been broken by what’s happened in the past couple of weeks – and what might happen in the next few days. We know of several organizations that are waaaay beyond capacity. And staff people who don’t have the time, expertise or budget to get out an emergency email. So we’d like to help. If you’re at a small nonprofit and would like us to write a free emergency fundraising email for you, here’s what to do: 1️⃣ Fill out this form (https://lnkd.in/e8hd4TKW), and 2️⃣ Give us a brief snapshot of what’s happening for your beneficiaries or organization, and 3️⃣ Tell us if your organization is too small to afford to do this on your own, or if you’ve just never really known how. We’ll reply with a few detailed questions about your exact situation so we know what to say in the email. Once you send us the answers, we’ll write an emergency email for you within a day or two. We’ll also send a handful of tips that will help you with emergency fundraising in general. It’s possible that we won’t be able to write an email for every organization that asks for one. We’ve never done this before, and we have no idea how many people will take us up on this offer. But we are inspired by the thousands of people who are helping as much as they can right now. This is the way we can help, and just like you, we’ll help as much as we can. If you or your organization need help, please get in touch! https://lnkd.in/e8hd4TKW -Steven Screen -Jim Shapiro #HurricaneHelene #HurricaneMilton #nonprofit #nonprofitorganization #fundraising
