The most predictable trillion-dollar trade in history is unfolding in climate tech, following the same blueprint that re-created the economy in tech. Just as companies like Google and Cisco built massive value by connecting the internet, Montauk Climate is investing in climate tech that connects physical renewable infrastructure like solar panels 😎, batteries 🔋, and EV chargers ⚡. Meet the Climate & Energy Transition (CET) Stack -- our framework that targets the protocol and application layers of climate tech to capture the next wave of climate unicorns and high-growth, high-return opportunities. As climate risks like hurricanes and extreme weather dominate the headlines, the financial impact on businesses is becoming clearer—and more devastating. Montauk Climate is proud to back Adaptive Insurance, which is at the forefront of helping businesses protect themselves from power outages caused by these growing threats. Through GridProtect, Adaptive uses cutting-edge AI and real-time data to offer parametric insurance that quickly covers businesses when outages strike. With faster payouts and customizable coverage, this solution bridges the gap left by traditional insurance, helping small businesses stay resilient through increasingly unpredictable climate events. We’re thrilled to introduce Adaptive Insurance, a climate resiliency company building a platform that helps businesses protect themselves financially against the business interruptions caused by climate-related events, starting with our parametric insurance solutions. With weather costing U.S. businesses $1B every three weeks (and 40% of losses are not covered), Adaptive is well positioned to address the growing demand to cover gaps left by traditional insurance. Beginning with our short-term power outage coverage, Adaptive uses the simplicity of parametric insurance - verified trigger events and agreed-upon payment amounts - to help businesses quickly get back on their feet. Our co-founders, Michael Gulla and Arik Yelovitch, are equally thrilled to join forces again and are grateful for the support and confidence from Montauk Climate as our team brings this vision to life. We’re already looking forward to sharing more news about what we’re building and who’s coming along for the ride. Congrats TJ (Teej) Ragsdale and the entire team who is helping to build Raad Labs into the leading weather/climate sensor data company! We are proud to see this one spun out from Montauk Climate https://lnkd.in/eyWeATw5
We’re thrilled to announce that CoinFund has led the $2.25M seed round in Raad Labs, the DePIN startup incubated by Montauk Climate! When we consider how the traditional landline, internet, cellular or weather sensor networks have been built, costly, massively centralized infrastructure build-outs come to mind. What if individuals could invest in, self-deploy, and govern a network? DePIN is helping expand technologies evolve through crypto incentives – one of them being weather. Raad Labs, which stands for Remote Atmospheric and Alternative Data Network, is building a decentralized, incentive-based network to improve weather data management and collection on a local, regional, and large-scale model. The project incentivises distributed personalized weather stations to improve model accuracy and provide atmospheric data like methane, soil moisture and hail that are not being collected today in most parts of the world. To learn more about Raad Labs, check out our full blog post written by Head of Venture Investments David Pakman. #raadlabs #coinfund #depin https://lnkd.in/eg6cegFK
