About us
The Montgomery County Business Development Center leads all economic growth in the area with financial incentives and a wide variety of assistance that covers everything from planning to training. The MCBDC collaborates with the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development and Planning and the industrial development agency to offer tax-exempt bonds with low interest rates. The center also actively seeks grants for economic development, transportation, disaster mitigation, recreation and other quality of life issues that create incentives. The MCBDC provides a key link between the local workforce development board and Fulton-Montgomery Community College to help employers recruit and retain members of the county’s exceptional labor pool. In addition, the MCBDC handles all planning services for the county and its municipalities, giving it a definitive view of available property and zoning. Prospective and existing businesses will find every resource necessary for success with the MCBDC, just another asset that makes Montgomery County “Made of Something Stronger.”

Founded as a ski shop in 1964, Alpin Haus gradually added its line of boats, pools and snowmobiles. Today, Alpin Haus is one of the largest RV dealers in the country, thanks in large part to a major expansion in 2003. When it came time to expand and build a 70,000-square-foot facility, Alpin Haus president Andy Heck and the Heck Family insisted on staying at home, right here in Montgomery County, NY. The 28-acre site the family began developing in 2002, sits just off of the New York State Thruway, a critical connector of the midwest and east coast. Two weeks ago, the County Legislature passed a resolution to accept grant funding that was awarded by New York State Department of State for a Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) plan for the villages of Fort Plain and Nelliston. This grant and the BOA planning process facilitates the transformation of unproductive, and often, blighted properties into productive use, creating job opportunities, housing and/or community amenities for residents and visitors. The MCBDC will work with the villages throughout the grant process.

Winn Construction, Inc. and Land Remediation, Inc. are completing the preliminary steps to purchase the last piece of developable land on Route 5S, in the Florida Business Park. “It would be for their businesses, they’re a construction firm and environmental firm. We’re excited, it’s different than distribution and it’s actually a good fit for this area," MCIDA Director Ken Rose said.
