About us

The Moravian Historical Society is a nonprofit museum and historic site that preserves, interprets, and celebrates the rich culture of the Moravians. Located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, we maintain the 1740–1743 Whitefield House and the 1740 Gray Cottage, the oldest surviving Moravian structure in North America. Recognized widely for its significant collection and historically important 18th-century site, the Moravian Historical Society is the third oldest historical society in Pennsylvania.

Updates

  • What a day! The Moravian Historical Society celebrated the opening of our new special exhibition, "Grounds for Meditation: Moravian Pleasure Gardens," on Sunday. We are grateful to all who joined us for the opening, and to Sara Cedar Miller from the #CentralParkConservancy for a fascinating talk putting the Moravian pleasure gardens in the context of American park history. We also owe a special thanks to Farrar L. for curating this outstanding and truly stunning exhibition and to Michiko Okaya for her help with installation! "Grounds for Meditation" will be on view now through February 16, 2025, at the Moravian Historical Society. Our Museum is open daily from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Stop by for a visit!
