Champion of the Morgo Community of Tech companies going global from NZ & Australia

Check out the latest Morgo Podcast: an interview with founders Shieak Tzeng and Sergei Obruchkov about building Wellumio. A chance meeting changed everything for them: Sergei suggested the tech solution to a problem Shieak was interested in. Together they have developed a highly portable MRI head scanner for early detection of stroke damage - able to be deployed in emergency rooms to allow diagnosis in the "golden hour" after a stroke when treatment has the best effect. Shieak and Sergei talk about the journey from being scientists to founders - and encourage more academics to become entrepreneurs! A really interesting product and a great journey! CEO/Co-Founder of Thematic - Scaling feedback analytics with AI

I've been meaning to check out Morgo CEO/founders retreats for a while and last week finally got a chance to attend and speak at one. Here's what I learned: 👩🏻💻 Most CEO/founders aren't super-humans. They fall in love with a problem, they work hard, and a bit of luck helps along the way... 📈 New Zealand is home to some incredible people and companies, and most of them fly under the radar here locally, because we focus energy on getting known in bigger markets. 💪 New Zealanders are incredibly innovative and quick take advantage of what's unique here: A supporting community, perks of working in amazing locations, our non-hierarchical culture. People are often surprised when they hear how small our teams vs. what we are able to accomplish. 💲 AI is top of mind for many CEOs and is changing what matters in the market. The buyers are asking "How can it help me save resources?" So the services, product features and conversations need to be centered on this question. 🔮 Meanwhile, we shouldn't forget of how advances in AI will be affecting the economy and geopolitical situation in near future. Sean Gourley's talk on swarm intelligence was super interesting and relevant to us all in many ways. Finally, what a great reminder of how beautiful Queenstown is! Absolutely stunning backdrop for any gathering. And it was extra special to catch up here with old and new friends who are running incredible companies from New Zealand. James Sampson Jo Mills Aaron McDonald Bob Drummond Asa Cox Trent Fulcher Oscar Ellison Michael Hartley Dave Shoemack ❤️ Thanks Jenny Morel for the invitation and organizing! #morgo2024
