We had the pleasure of attending Dr. Emily Gutierrez’s session at the IMMH conference, and it was truly inspiring! 🙌 Her presentation on functional medicine and mental health was packed with powerful insights and practical applications. Dr. G reminded us that “functional medicine is the medicine of why”— understanding the root cause is essential in creating true health. We loved her emphasis on how “balancing the body can balance the brain” 🧠 and her focus on core areas like immune health, nutrition, and gut function. She also highlighted key interventions, from tracking zinc levels in ADHD patients to using Omega 3s to resolve inflammation and the importance of B vitamins in supporting brain function. Her advice? Start with what your patient can afford, begin with the basics, and build from there—functional medicine is all about meeting patients where they are. 💡 Thank you, Dr. Gutierrez, for such a valuable and insightful session! We’re excited to take what we’ve learned back to our work at Mosaic Diagnostics. ✨ Integrative Medicine for Mental Health (IMMH) Integrative Medicine for Mental Health (IMMH) Dr. Emily Gutierrez Neuronutrition Associates LLC #IMMH #FunctionalMedicine #BrainHealth #GutBrainConnection #MosaicDiagnostics #FunctionalTesting #MentalHealthMatters

When it comes to mental health, toxicants don’t just ghost you—they stick around and cause real damage. The connection between the environment and mental health can be just as toxic as any unhealthy relationship. Phthalates, heavy metals, and mycotoxins are silently wreaking havoc on the brain, contributing to issues like depression, anxiety, ADHD, and cognitive decline. 🧠 Heavy metals like lead can cause irreversible brain damage, reduce IQ, and are linked to thousands of excess cases of ADHD in children each year. 🧠 Phthalates disrupt the gut-brain axis, interfering with neurotransmitter and hormone function—critical regulators of mood and mental health. 🧠 Mycotoxins increase oxidative stress and neuroinflammation, triggering symptoms like brain fog, anxiety, and mood swings. It’s time to help your patients dump the toxicants and reclaim their mental clarity. The EnviroTOX Complete + Metals Panel offers a comprehensive assessment of their toxic burden—an essential tool for uncovering hidden contributors to their mental health challenges. 🔗 Ready to end the toxic cycle and guide your patients to better outcomes? October is National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month, a perfect time to raise awareness of the deep connection between mental health and physical well-being. In functional medicine, we understand that mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, and mood disorders often stem from underlying imbalances within the body. At Mosaic Diagnostics, we provide practitioners with the tools to uncover these root causes through comprehensive testing. For example: 🧬 The Organic Acids Test (OAT) evaluates metabolic and nutritional imbalances, such as neurotransmitter dysregulation and oxidative stress, which are closely linked to mental health. 🦠 The MycoTOX Profile can detect mycotoxin exposure from mold, which can trigger neuroinflammation and cognitive dysfunction. 🧪 Our TOXDetect Profile identifies toxic chemical exposures that may contribute to neurological issues and mood disturbances. 🧲 The Heavy Metals Test assesses toxic metal burden, which can interfere with brain function and contribute to mental health disorders. By exploring the root causes of mental health challenges through functional testing, practitioners can develop more targeted, personalized treatment plans for their patients. This Mental Health Screening Month, let’s work together to address the physical factors that influence mental health and provide holistic care to our patients. 🧠💡 Visit MosaicDx.com to learn more! #MentalHealthAwareness #FunctionalMedicine #RootCause #MosaicDiagnostics #MentalHealthMatters #DepressionScreening #ToxinExposure #PatientCare

People are living longer and chronic disease continues to be a growing concern, with the cost of care increasing every year. During a recent congressional hearing, experts highlighted the need to shift focus from simply managing symptoms to addressing the root causes of illness. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Dr. Mark Hyman's Stark Warning: “We’re mopping up the floor while the sink overflows.” The U.S. healthcare system focuses too much on managing symptoms rather than addressing root causes—like poor diet and environmental toxins. This approach only perpetuates the chronic disease epidemic. By targeting the underlying causes, we could significantly improve outcomes and reduce costs. 2️⃣ Obesity’s Staggering $9.1 Trillion Impact: Obesity is a leading risk factor for chronic disease, contributing to almost half of U.S. healthcare spending. Over the next decade, obesity-related expenses are projected to add an additional $9.1 trillion to healthcare costs. Comprehensive approaches to address obesity are urgently needed to reverse this trend and save billions. 3️⃣ The Gap Between Screening and Treatment: Former Senator Bill Frist pointed out a critical gap: early detection is crucial, but the challenge lies in connecting test results with effective treatment, especially in rural areas. Functional medicine offers a pathway to close this gap by targeting the root cause of chronic illness and empowering patients to achieve long-term, sustainable health outcomes. As a practitioner, staying ahead of these discussions is essential for delivering the best care. Empower your patients by addressing the root causes, and together we can combat the chronic disease epidemic while improving lives and outcomes. Our EnviroTOX Panels offer practitioners a comprehensive look at the potential root causes of illness by assessing toxicants like heavy metals, pesticides, and more, along with the impact they’ve had on key systems in the body.💡 👉 Want to learn more?
