The Missouri State Employees' Retirement System (MOSERS), established September 1, 1957, is governed by the statutes of the state of Missouri. MOSERS is a statewide public pension fund providing retirement, disability and survivor benefits for approximately 100,000 state employees, retirees, and their families.

  • Missouri State Employees' Retirement System is seeking a benefits auditor. This position reports to the chief benefits officer and performs the final audits of new retiree and survivor benefits, as well as various other audits surrounding the benefits administered by MOSERS. The benefits auditor performs final audits of benefit inceptions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state law and MOSERS administrative regulations. The person in this position applies complex statutory and contractual provisions and procedures to determine eligibility, benefit amounts, purchases, and options to which a member is entitled and resolves complicated and unique member situations by consulting with the chief benefits officer, assistant benefits officer, or other MOSERS sections. This position analyzes risk management issues to ensure that proper controls are implemented, works various audit reports throughout the month to minimize risk to the System, reviews and makes recommendations related to proposed legislation, summarizes the effects of all legislative and administrative rule changes, and performs special audits and verifications as required by legislative changes. The benefits auditor reviews the benefits of all deceased members and survivors and ensures all documents are received and processed in a timely manner. The person in this position authorizes requests for supplemental benefit checks, serves as the lead trainer for the benefits department, allocates back pay awards to members as appropriate, provides technical comments to the System’s actuary as needed, and responds to members, benefit recipients, and employers by phone, in writing, or in person.   • Missouri State Employees' Retirement System is seeking an investments operations analyst. This position reports to the manager of investment risk and performance and provides investment operations and administrative support to the investment department. Responsibilities include answering the main telephone line for the department, scheduling meetings, maintaining the calendar for required due diligence meetings, ordering and maintaining supplies, and assisting with travel arrangements and expense filings for investment staff. The person in this position will be responsible for account administration, reconciliation, reporting, trade support activities, and participation in projects and process reviews. The investments operations analyst prepares a daily valuation report of portfolio asset allocation and gathers pricing and market data from various sources such as Bloomberg, the custodian bank, and external investment managers. This position will also assist with gathering external manager fees and incentive fees/carried interest, processing external managers' statements and cash flows into the MOSERS investment system with the custodial bank, and performing reconciliations between MOSERS' investment system and the custodial bank accounting system. In addition, this position prepares instructions on opening and closing custodial bank accounts. The investment operations analyst assists with gathering documentation for operational and compliance reviews of underlying investment managers and processes daily cash portfolio trading activity, including affirming trades, sending trades to the custody bank, verifying collateral, and reconciling trade and interest payments with the custody bank. This position also assists with preparing investment accounting and risk management documents for the annual report, board meetings, and internal staff, reviewing custody invoices to ensure accurate billing, and with investment legal and compliance counsel to ensure compliance with governing policies regarding affirmative action.
