Studies have validated that successful leaders spend at least 10X more time gathering and evaluating information before making a decision. Less effective leaders rely entirely on their experience or intuition. While experience is somewhat helpful, it is only useful if applied in the current context. Context changes quickly, therefore making information gathering and evaluation more important. The limitations of intuition are similar. Intuition often relies on experience comparisons to make decisions - "this looks like what I saw a few years ago. I decided then to react this way, so I will repeat that decision." Again, if we don't fully understand the context of the moment, our comparison of experiences may be inaccurate. In reality, many leaders simply don't gather and evaluate the necessary data due to complacency in the face of self-imposed deadlines because they are overly busy with less important duties. It is a call to slow decision-making and reflect on the information necessary to make an informed decision. "Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind." Proverbs 21:5 (MSG) For more resources and insights related to faith and work, subscribe to our free newsletter: https://lnkd.in/dzmxUBcp #decisionmaking #leadership
