About us

The Motown Museum is one of Southeastern Michigan's most popular tourist destinations. Each year, the museum attracts thousands of visitors from across the nation and around the globe. Founded in 1985 by Esther Gordy Edwards, the Museum's mission is to preserve the legacy of Motown Record Corporation and to educate and motivate people, especially youth, through exhibitions and programs that promote the values of vision, creativity and entrepreneurship.     Motown Museum is HIRING! Our Archives and Collections Department is seeking a full-time Registrar!   Interested applicants should have the following: - Bachelor’s degree required. - Graduate degree in museum studies, library and information science, or related field preferred. - Two years of experience working with collections in a museum or similar setting. - Demonstrated experience in collection management and preservation best practices and standards. - Experience with condition reporting, environmental monitoring and/or pest management programs preferred. - Experience using collection management systems and related software. - Experience assisting with or coordinating exhibition activities preferred. - Supervisory experience preferred.     If this sounds like the right position for you, or you're interested in other Motown Museum employment opportunities, visit the link below to learn more and apply. https://lnkd.in/gVv_tb_E

Join us at the Motown Museum Job Fair on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hitsville NEXT located at 2654 W. Grand Blvd. in Detroit. Discover exciting opportunities across various roles, including administration, programming, education, archive and collection management, as well as retail and guest services for the upcoming summer season. This is your chance to meet the Motown Museum team and explore potential roles working in the historical space where legends like Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross recorded numerous songs. All applicants are encouraged to bring a resume and apply our website before attending the job fair. Claudette’s accomplishments with the Miracles make her not only an important figure for Motown, but for music history.
