Throughout a year-long consulting partnership, a team of senior consultants from MV Ventures collaborated closely with two newly established #STEM schools in Fulton County. Embracing #designthinking as the cornerstone of their approach, MVV consultants conducted a blend of virtual and face-to-face sessions, actively involving teams of teacher leaders from both institutions in comprehensive design thinking training and curriculum development endeavors, providing steadfast support to both school administration and faculty. During the initial phase of the partnership, we took a deep dive into the intricacies of the design thinking methodology, enabling participants to immerse themselves as both users and creators. Through this process, team members gained an understanding of the essence of design thinking, its efficacy as a problem-solving framework, and how it could be applied within the classroom setting. This nifty tool, dubbed “Ouch to Ah-Ha,” helps teachers and administrators find moments that lead to new ideas. Use it to mark what has happened during a pHail (fail) moment on a scale. Learners can then think about why the pHail happened and write that on the bottom of the scale. Is there a link between the size of the pHail and the learning?
