Reporting directly to the city manager, the chief of police oversees a departmental budget of $3.65 million (Personnel, $2.69M), supporting 22.81 FTE, of whom 17 are sworn, including the chief. Cool opportunity for anyone who is passionate about protecting our rivers!
When I was 22, I noticed a sign above a coffee shop during my first visit to Eagle, CO for Eagle River Watershed Council, a small nonprofit that works to advocate for the health of our rivers. I said someday I am going to work there. When I was 24, the education & outreach position opened up. I shared my passion for rivers and got to dive into community event planning and connecting our folks to our watershed. When I was 27, I threw my hat in the ring after our executive director stepped down with no expectation that it would be me. It was a wild process, but I got a call that changed my path and jumped into a big boy job. I cannot be more proud of what our staff and board has accomplished - we've completed the Eagle River Community Water Plan, launched a new brand as Eagle River Coalition, initiated critical restoration projects and expanded our community engagement even further. After 2 years as ED and 5 years working for one of the most important organizations I can think of, it's time for me to find the next position in the world of water. It's a long runway out, and our hope is that I can support the next ED through on-boarding.
