Does hip pain mean you have a back or spine problem? While hip pain can often be linked to issues within the hip joint itself, it’s also possible for it to be a sign of a problem in your lower back or spine. Conditions like sciatica, herniated discs, or spinal stenosis can cause referred pain that travels to the hip area. If you’re unsure about the cause of your pain, it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment options. Congratulations to Mount Sinai West’s Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner, Yun Jeong Seo, DNP, AOCNP; DNP, for her focus on quality improvement for chemoradiation patients. In 2022, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began monitoring hospitalizations and ED visits for patients undergoing chemoradiation (chemoRT) with an aim to reduce the number of ED visits. Using a High ED/Admission Risk Therapy (HEART) team protocol, this strategic approach aimed to train nursing staff in early detection of cancer treatment-related symptoms and initiate early interventions to reduce unnecessary ED visits.
