#NEWS: Longtime McLaughlin & Stern, LLP Partner Lauren Cramer is featured in a recent The New York Times interview, highlighting her personal and legal advocacy ahead of the 2024 general election. Lauren has been a valued and integral attorney for over two decades, and she brings valuable insights to this article as the legal advisor to a New York based political advocacy organization, MoveIndigo. Lauren’s voice is a cornerstone of our work at McLaughlin & Stern. Her extensive legal experience has bolstered her commitment to local organizations and civic activism. Our firm continues to be impressed by her dedication and work ethic. Keep up the great work, Lauren! Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eGqnzWDb #RaisingTheBar

This article makes virtually no mention of Florida’s awful policies on abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, education, etc on the migration reversal. Research shows that people aren’t just fleeing the storms and insurance rates (though the fact that the state prohibits the government’s use of the term climate change makes it impossible for them to actually address it.). People are leaving a state where they don’t feel welcome and policy decisions are designed to repel them. https://lnkd.in/e7gsW8cH

MoveIndigo helps Democratic voters who are already moving choose vibrant communities where their votes will be gamechangers.
MoveIndigo’s work to turn the House blue is featured in The NY Times today. We are extremely excited about what we have accomplished so far. And there is still time! Registration and absentee ballot request deadlines in NY are October 26. Please repost and help win back the House. https://lnkd.in/eyNj6Nah

I've never listened to this podcast before...something about the name kinda bugs me. But I listened to this episode because I wanted to hear the interview with Vice President Harris. For anyone who still doesn't feel like they know enough about Harris, this is a must-listen. It is a 45-minute conversation about her experience, her plans and her philosophy. Please spread the word to anyone who doesn't believe it really matters who is in office and/or anyone you know who may not feel compelled to vote. https://lnkd.in/eeaWPD6a

I wrote a biography of Jimmy Carter and try here to put him in the context of today’s monumental election. Whatever you think about his politics, he shows that character counts. Please share with anyone on the fence.

Move Indigo is in the news (again). We have an 8% re-registration rate for the tens of thousands of Democratic NYers with two homes we have reached out to. New York is critical to flipping the House blue and this group of New Yorkers have an opportunity to play a big role by exercising their right to choose which location they register and vote in. So, thousands of them are choosing to re-register where they can have the biggest impact and can help flip the House and determine the direction of our democracy. https://bit.ly/3XxwbJY

At MoveIndigo, we agree that NY has the potential to be critical to winning back the House. Our strategy is to reach already committed Democratic voters who have two homes in the state to let them know that they can choose to register at their second home - frequently in one of the 7 toss-up districts in the state - and have an extraordinarily impactful vote. We have an almost 8% re-registration rate with the folks we have reached out to because they recognize the value of voting in a critical district. Our organization is reaching out to almost 50,000 of these dual homeowners who are Democrats, who have a pattern of being active voters and who want a Democratic house as a firewall against the possibility of a Republican trifecta. New York is a big reason Democrats lost the House in 2022. And it’s going to be a big reason we win it back in 2024. At the Democracy Alliance, Battleground New York is just one example of our belief that we have to throw out the old thinking about red and blue states. Winning for the long-term means staying laser focused on year-round investment in infrastructure in blue states. And it means going on offense in (so-called) red states, where some of our most effective organizers are poised to change the game. The key to it all is building power. We’re supporting the most brilliant labor and community coalition with deep ties to our communities–who know voters best. Winning in November is essential—and not enough. We have to build a durable, pro-democracy majority for a generation ahead. Read the latest from CNN: https://lnkd.in/ebe_gy5w Learn more about Battleground New York: https://lnkd.in/eHm_Eywp
