MSC provides values-aligned infrastructure for BIPOC and women-led organizations.
About us
MSC provides values-aligned infrastructure for BIPOC and women-led organizations at the intersection of racial inequity and environmental justice. We put love at the center and embody the values and spirit of our partners. Our mission is to provide values aligned, holistic intermediary services enabling access to crucial infrastructure and thought partnership for BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA movement leaders, activists, and communities challenging intersectional issues of systemic racism, rampant environmental destruction, and crippling economic exploitation. We are unique in that we do not operate as a singular organization but as a collective ecosystem incubating and accelerating the work of our partner projects, which speaks to our values of radical interdependence and love. Our vision is of a Just Transition from a world of domination, extraction, and violence — where the few live at the expense of the many — to a world of interdependence, liberation, and resilience — where the many govern for the benefit of all. We understand that a Just Transition is only possible when the voices of BIPOC, women, and GNC leaders are honored, celebrated, and amplified, not merely tolerated.

The Supreme Court decision to strike down affirmative action in college admissions has resulted in nonprofits and foundations questioning whether they should engage in work on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Blocking the Backlash challenges the rush to retreat from addressing racial equity. The findings show more organizations are engaging in DEI initiatives in 2022 than in 2019. 2022 survey-takers, especially BIPOC respondents, found DEI interventions effective and rated workplace satisfaction higher when their organizations implemented five or more DEI strategies. In this time of increased polarization, organizations that lean into DEI strategies can continue fostering equitable workplace environments. https://lnkd.in/emWsQevu

Support for Palestine has led to disturbing trends across many areas, including academia, corporate sectors, and politics. This support has sparked a dangerous rise in anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian sentiment across the U.S., which continues to fuel the violence in Gaza. A recent report by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) shows a 56% increase in anti-Muslim complaints in 2023, with nearly half of these complaints coming during the last months of the year when the violence in Gaza intensified. Movement Strategy Center remains committed to advocating for justice. We signed on to a call for a ceasefire last year and continue to stand by that call. Addressing these issues and supporting those working for peace and human rights is vital. Read more about this situation here: https://lnkd.in/eAv6Zs_3

Intersectionality can help clarify how a person can simultaneously experience privilege and oppression. Each race and gender intersection produces a qualitatively distinct experience. In Denver's Westwood neighborhood, an inspiring example of solidarity economics unfolds. After two years of dedicated effort, an 80-family mobile home community is set to become Denver's first resident-owned manufactured housing park. This shift is a powerful demonstration of regenerative living and a Just Transition. Amid challenges from predatory corporate landlords, this resident-owned model ensures that homes remain secure and sustainable for generations to come. By taking control of their own park through a cooperative model, these residents are setting a powerful example of what community-centered policies can achieve. Montevista Comunidad's success shows how community-centered policies can transform lives and protect local spaces. It's a testament to the resilience and determination of people coming together to safeguard their homes and futures. Let's celebrate and support more initiatives that embrace solidarity economics and prioritize community well-being! Read more: https://lnkd.in/g-ux3FAQ. #SolidarityEconomy #CommunityOwnership
