Unlocking the future often begins by revisiting the past. In a career transition, hindsight can be invaluable. Consider Naseem's journey: starting with a purchasing internship in Pakistan, seemingly unrelated at the time. Yet, this experience paved the way for his role at Navistar, a pivotal moment in his career. Looking back often illuminates the path forward. https://lnkd.in/gHWwkPrJ #CareerInsights #ReflectAndAdvance #MRAGlobal

The clues to your future are often hidden in your past. If you’re going through a career transition or looking to initiate some kind of change, you might just benefit from looking backwards before plowing ahead. My first internship in Pakistan was at one of the largest manufacturing conglomerates in the country, focusing on purchasing. It was a formative experience but at the time I never expected that it would be something I’d end up getting involved in later in life. Fast forward several years ahead when I was fresh out of business school – I had limited work experience and was open to any opportunity that came my way. After a bunch of interviews with different firms, I landed a job at Navistar, a manufacturing powerhouse for trucks, diesel engines, and buses. I was fortunate enough to have options but this one just felt right…and it was. My time at the firm was very important for my development and saw me work under Howard Levy, who became a crucial mentor for me in my early career. Looking back, my early exposure to manufacturing, seemingly a detour at the time, was actually a step towards where I was meant to be. So if you’re thinking about where to go next, try thinking about where you’ve already been. You might just find what you’re looking for.
