Several M+K employees recently joined Rebuild Together Philadelphia along with a team of other volunteers from the region to participate in RTP’s ‘Block Build’ program. The group undertook critical house repairs for eight homeowners and their families in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philadelphia. What a great day! Beyond the satisfaction of being directly involved in construction projects to help transform living spaces and neighborhoods for homeowners in need, the feeling of camaraderie among this great group of volunteers and RTP staff was immeasurable! Our involvement in volunteer efforts like these are central to our core values. Our mantra says it all: Work Hard. Play Harder. When it comes to designing Type III wood buildings, the devil is definitely in the details! Traditional Type V wood framed construction is limited to 4-stories. However, the IBC allows wood frame up to 5-stories – but it must comply with Type III requirements of the Code. While multiple benefits can be realized with Type III construction, your engineer needs to fully comprehend the pros and cons of the various framing options to maximize these benefits. Our holistic approach enables us to bring top value to the design of 5-story wood-framed buildings.
