Music & Arts reposted this
When I was 7, I took piano lessons for a month or two. It was not a great time. It was at someone’s house and I just remember it being dank and dark and the teacher being very grumpy. Since I now work for a company that offers music lessons I made the decision to shake off that memory and try learning to play something. It’s the perfect opportunity, right? What a vastly different experience. I decided on guitar and asked my team which instrument I should buy. I know my district is filled with experts in supporting musicians but even I was surprised by the thoughtful and detailed responses. They took my goals, budget, skill set (or lack thereof), preferences, all the things into consideration. I felt beyond confident in making my purchase after having them all weigh in. I knew I wanted lessons on Monday evenings so I would have a hard cutoff to my workday. And having a really talented and experienced instructor who is patient to boot? Ideal. I ended up signing up for lessons at Music & Arts Tomball with Gil. What a perfect choice. He has made sure to align with me on what my goals with lessons are, find out what music I love so he can incorporate songs I’ll be excited about learning and shared some best practices from the onset. Now I understand why Music & Arts has been the lessons studio of choice for decades. I am excited to be learning and can’t wait for my next lesson.

"I met Brian Hunter when he was a student teacher about 20 years ago and was his Ed Rep for 5-7 years. For Brian, it's about the Ed Rep relationship, visits and being able to answer his questions quickly and effectively. Through his relationship with me during his entire career, he has continued to be supportive of Music & Arts." — From Dave Kaplan, our Director of Sales for School Services Teaching music is not just a job – it's a mission. We sat down with Dr. Brian Hunter, the music and movement teacher at Constable Elementary School in Kendall Park, New Jersey, and talked about what it means to shape the next generation of musicians and the impact a music teacher can have on their students.
