Doggy Day Out is a nationwide Mutual Rescue™ program that allows you to take shelter dogs out on a field trip, stretch their legs after being confined in a kennel, and help socialize them to increase their chances of adoption. Consider adding this to your next domestic vacay itinerary. Meet Salty, my bestest new bud who recently co-piloted our day trip around the Big Island. We hiked! We lazed in fields! We were suspicious of waves lapping at our feet but enjoyed sniffing tidepools. Salty--who is friendly to all people and apparently cats (though not chickens!)--is currently living large with a foster and awaits his furever home. #adoptdontshop
