My Green Lab

My Green Lab is setting the sustainability standard for laboratories, one of the most resource-intensive spaces in any industry. My Green Lab's initiatives focus on energy efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable product use, and education. Through their programs, they’re inspiring tens of thousands of scientists to reduce the environmental impact of their work. In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we’re donating an additional $25K to one of the 1% for the Planet nonprofit organizations like My Green Lab that we support annually. Vote here ⬇️

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate! This Halloween, let’s keep our practices from haunting the planet. Here are a few friendly ways to be more sustainable today: 👻 Trick or treat with reusable bags. 🎃 Dispose of pumpkins responsibly–put them in your compost, garden, or green bin. 🗑️ Bring along a litter bag and collect garbage while chaperoning little ones.  What are your spooky #sustainability tips? Thank you to everyone who voted– the answer is 3.5! Variable air velocity (VAV) fume hoods can consume around 3.5 homes worth of energy per day. Whereas constant air velocity fume hoods use the same amount of energy whether they're open or closed, VAV fume hoods, when open, use a whopping 110 kWh/day.  Closing your fume hood sash is one of the most impactful things you can do to save energy in the lab. The energy savings from lowering the sash in a VAV fume hood can be upwards of 40%. That's a great reason to #SHUTTHESASH!
