Blueprints (formerly Community Action Southwest) has served and strengthened Washington and Greene County communities for the past 52 years, and has recently expanded into West Virginia. This nonprofit offers programs that fit into the pillars of Mind, Health, Home and Mind, including Early Head Start, Head Start, PA Pre-K Counts, WIC, foster care, adoption, youth and family services, senior services, adult education, job development, financial literacy, home ownership and others. With the agency's help, neighbors can establish a new master plan for their lives regardless of which program or service they need. the organization’s $21 million operating budget and 340 employees inspire 20,000 people each year to break barriers and build futures.

Congratulations to our very own Jamie Weaver! Jamie was recently certified and licensed as a Blueprints Trauma Trainer through the Lakeside Global Institute. Jamie first successfully completed the Lakeside Global Institute Trauma Training and then finished a comprehensive 10 session training to become certified to train others. Jamie is now able to train Blueprints staff in trauma informed care to continue Breaking Barriers and Building Futures! Our line of work isn't always easy, but our staff certainly make it look effortless with their tireless dedication and passion for people, community, and being of service.

May is Community Action Month, a celebration of the movement. Blueprints is the community action agency for Washington and Greene Counties, and I’d like to take a pause to appreciate community action agencies (CAA’s) for their significance to our world. Community action is everywhere. Every CAA is different; some provide shelter services, Head Start, WIC, housing assistance, mental health services, food security services, transportation, child care, foster care and adoption, or any combination thereof. We inspire people to dream big, to overcome challenges and develop and pursue a future story where they can thrive. At Blueprints, we Break Barriers and Build Futures. Those who work for Blueprints are the inspiration for those who struggle in our community. We live the promise of community action every day. Community action has significantly impacted communities since 1965, and we are still going strong. Last year, Blueprints touched the lives of 21,494 people in our community.
