#CareerChange #QuantTrading #SoftwareEngineer #FinanceJourney #InvestmentBanking Hey everyone! 👋 I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share my current situation and get your thoughts on a potential career switch! So, here’s the deal: I’m a 24-year-old software engineer based in the EU, with about a year of experience under my belt. My total compensation is around $100k, which is pretty decent over here (especially considering the high taxes!). But here’s my dilemma: I’ve been hearing about the huge financial opportunities in quant trading and investment banking, and it has me intrigued. 💰 A Few Pain Points: Income Ceiling: As a software engineer in Europe, I feel like I’m hitting a ceiling around $150-200k, and breaking through that feels nearly impossible without some serious luck or connections. Lack of Connections: Coming from a low-income family, I don’t have any industry contacts in finance or trading, which makes it tough to break in. Switching Fields: I’m aware that tr... #WorkplaceDynamics #EmployeeRights #SalaryTransparency Hey there! So, I just got my offer letter for a raise, but there’s this **really sticky clause** that states I'm not allowed to discuss my wages with anyone. 🤔 Let me break it down for you: Yes, I asked for a raise, but guess what? I only got half of what I requested, even though that was already less than what others in my position make. Talk about frustrating! The letter says all details are confidential and not to be discussed, directly or indirectly. Seriously? How does that even make sense? I reached out to my HR contact, and their response was vague and kind of snarky, suggesting I should just avoid the topic! Not very reassuring... Now, here's the kicker: telling employees they can’t discuss their pay is actually **illegal** in many places. So, what's the next step for me? I'm honestly trying to figure it out because I'm still new to this whole career thing, and I'm not sure if this is just part of the job culture or ... #JobStruggles #MentalHealthMatters #CareerAdvice #FeelingStuck #SupportNeeded Hey there, everyone! 😊 I'm reaching out because I really feel like I'm stuck in a rut, and I could use some advice and support. I’m a 25-year-old woman who graduated with a business degree in May 2022. Since then, I’ve had a tough time finding gainful employment here in the U.S. My journey has brought me back to my childhood bedroom, and let me tell you, it’s a tough pill to swallow. Here's what’s been going on: I've applied to over 2,000 jobs! Worked with temp agencies that often just leave me waiting with no real gigs. I've aced interviews and revamped my resume countless times, but still no luck. 😔 I’ve been doing gig work to pay the bills and the callbacks have practically stopped. I’m wrapping up a temporary role now where I’m the only one in the office, and it’s super lonely. I’ve even had multiple job offers rescinded, including entry-level positions! It’s disheartening to get turned away from... Feeling trapped in my childhood bedroom: Can I escape unemployability? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gNzb6HHD

#ITJobs #CareerAdvice #JobMarket #TechTrends Hey everyone! 😊 So, I'm currently working at a small health organization, and I've been in the tech field for quite a while now. It's been quite the journey! I started out as an IT assistant back in 2017 and later dived into various roles while juggling my studies. After completing my Bachelor's in 2022, I took on a Helpdesk position, which was a decent experience, but now I'm an IT Analyst. Now, here’s where I need your help! I’m on the hunt for new opportunities and have applied for roles like Junior System Admin and Network roles. Unfortunately, all I seem to get back are polite rejection emails saying they’re not moving forward with my application. 😔 Even though I’ve had some interviews, they haven’t led anywhere either. I've boosted my skills with Google IT support and Az-900 Fundamental courses, plus I’m currently working on the AZ-800 to hopefully increase my chances. I have an Associate’s in Computer Systems Information and a B... Which IT Careers Are Thriving or Fading in 2023 and Beyond? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gYZH7_YX

#CareerGrowth #JobHopping #SalaryIncrease #CareerChoices I’ve noticed quite a few different opinions flying around about what it really takes to boost your earnings in your career. Some folks argue that sticking with the same company is the golden rule—loyalty will get you the promotions and pay raises you desire. 🤔 Others are all about that job-hopping life, claiming that bouncing around between companies is the secret sauce to landing better paychecks. 💼 Then there are those who believe leveraging their existing skills to dive into new departments or even entirely different fields is the way to go. 🌟 It makes you wonder, is there a real formula to this, or are we just trying to navigate the professional maze as best we can? Some pain points that come to mind: Job Security vs. Growth: Sticking around might seem safer, but how long can you wait for that promotion? ⏳ Perception of Job Hoppers: What’s the vibe around people who jump from job to job? Are they seen as risk-takers or un... Is Job Hopping or Staying Put Key to Boosting Your Income? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gx7uGXUu

#CushyJobs #WorkLifeBalance #StressFreeLiving Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve been having some thoughts lately about the quest for cushy jobs—you know, those laid-back gigs where you can actually enjoy life instead of scrambling every day just to make it through. I’ve heard of a CPA who works from home a few days a week, using that time to play video games and take naps. Sounds dreamy, right? 🎮😴 I also know a real estate banker who claims he only really works about 2-3 days a week. Meanwhile, my own experiences have been... quite the opposite. I’ve tried my hand at teaching and law, and let me tell you, the stress levels there are something else. Teaching: The highs were exhilarating, but the lows? Oof. I’m talking about a ratio of 10 bad days for every good one. Lawyering: Even on the best days, it felt like I was stuck in some kind of Kafkaesque nightmare. 🤯 I’ve been thinking about exploring options like working for the government or maybe becoming a librarian. Honestly, what I really w... How Can You Find Low-Stress, High-Pay Jobs that Feel Like Play? Answers: https://lnkd.in/g2NBPSBj

#JobMarket #CareerAdvice #WorkplaceWoes Hey everyone! 👋 Just wanted to share a little personal experience with you all that might serve as a warning regarding job opportunities, especially with Znder Inc.. So, here’s the scoop: a while back, I landed a position with them and was super excited—only to be let go after just TWO days! 😲 The reason? They decided to hire someone willing to accept a salary of $65k instead of my initial $110k. Why? Well, they needed to fill the position quickly and this new hire had a visa. It seems like they were in a rush to save some cash without considering the long-term effects on employee morale or quality of work. After my abrupt departure, I learned they were back on the hunt for new talent. I reached out to an old coworker there, and guess what? The new guy took off for a slightly better offer! It seems like a cycle of turnover that’s not beneficial for anyone involved. 🙄 Here are some pain points I noticed from my experience: Job Stability... #CareerChange #InheritanceAdvice #WorkFromHome #BeingYourOwnBoss Hey everyone! 😊 So, here’s the deal: I just inherited $200,000 and honestly, I'm feeling a bit lost. I’m a teacher right now, but the idea of sticking to this path for the next 25 years? Not exactly thrilling! I’m single, 30, and in pretty good financial shape with no debt, but I can’t shake this feeling that I want something different. I really like the concept of being my own boss and working from home. Right now, my inheritance is sitting in a Vanguard account, slowly growing. But I’m wondering… is that enough? I know that if I keep it there and the market holds up, it’ll grow, but is waiting really the right move for me? 🤔 Why am I feeling this way? Lack of Passion: Teaching is a noble profession, but if you’re not passionate about it, it can feel draining. Limited Flexibility: The traditional 9-to-5 grind can be tough, especially if you crave independence. Fear of Missing Out: With the money I have, the th... #CareerChange #VetLife #MentalHealth #SelfDiscovery Hello everyone! 👋 I'm reaching out because I'm at a bit of a crossroads in my life and could really use some insight. At 37, I'm feeling lost, especially having trained as a veterinarian yet struggling to find my place in that world. Here’s the scoop: 🎓 I graduated with good grades but have always battled strong **imposter syndrome**. Despite my credentials, I never felt competent—no mentors or real guidance to help me through the early days. 🐾 I’ve worked a few years as a vet, but the **non-medical aspects** of the job honestly drain me. I wish I could focus solely on diagnosing and treating diseases, without the pressure of pet ownership dynamics. 😓 I’ve tried branching out into **neuroscience research**, believing it would mean less public interaction, but that experience was a bust. A poorly designed project led to a humiliating final presentation, and it knocked my confidence down a peg. 💼 I’m thinking about ... How Can I Reinvent My Career and Overcome Vet Burnout at 37? #SalaryExpectations #CareerAdvice #HiringInsights Hey everyone! 👋 I just had the final interview with a fantastic candidate, and we’re preparing to extend an offer. But here's the twist: when we discussed salary expectations, the number they gave us was jaw-droppingly low—about 50% less than what we had in mind, especially considering the role requires an engineering degree, 5 years of experience, and specialized knowledge. To put it bluntly, we’re talking about a salary that’s even lower than some unskilled positions! 😳 Now, everything else about this candidate checks out. They look perfect for the role, and it doesn't seem like this is a fresh grad trying to be competitive with an unrealistic salary expectation. I've been in the hiring game for 13 years, and I’ve never come across something like this before. So I'm left wondering: is it a red flag when candidates ask for such low salaries? Here are a few thoughts I have on why this might be happening: Undervaluation: They might ... Are Low Salary Expectations a Warning Sign for Top Candidates? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gwQeVBfg
